Room for raga, tala and qawwali
Let yourself be enticed by South Asia's classic sounds and suggestive qawwali rhythms; two musical traditions that have developed over centuries. MelaKlassisk takes place at the Nobel Peace Center. Most of what you will hear on MelaKlassisk is from the northern tradition of South Asian music, where rag (melody) and tal (rhythm) are central. In contrast to the southern Carnatic tradition, one finds much more influence from Sufism and Islam in the north!
