On 11 September 2023 there will be municipal elections in Norway and it is important to exercise your right to vote. Voting is a fundamental democratic right, which means that you have greater control over your own everyday life and society in general. If you do not vote, it actually means that you leave the choice of your future to others.

Who can vote in the municipal election?

• Norwegian citizens over the age of 18, or who turn 18 in the election year.
• Foreign citizens over the age of 18 or who turn 18 in the election year, and who have been registered residents in Norway continuously for the last three years before election day.
• Citizens of other Nordic countries, who are over 18 or who turn 18 in the election year, and who have been registered residents in Norway since 30 June 2023 at the latest.
