Rohini Sahajpal is the country's foremost practitioner of Indian sitar. She comes from a musical family with deep roots in Indian classical music, her father is the multi-instrumentalist Shri Lal Sahajpal and her brother Jai Shankar plays tablas. In addition to the Indian tradition, Rohini is interested in meeting with musicians in other styles and music forms. Among other things, she has played with Transjoik, Arve Tellefsen and with Sanskriti Shrestha, Oddrun Lilja Jonsdottir and Tejaswinee Kelkar in "New Conception of Raga" which has appeared on both Melafestivalen and the Førde Festival.
