- The wedding singer from Gaza who became an international pop star

Palestinian Mohammed Assaf sang his way into the hearts of almost the entire world when he won the second season of Arab Idol. Here he was also compared to the Egyptian pop singer Abdel Halim Hafez, and it is his dramatic Idol story that is told in the Palestinian film The Idol. Since his victory in Idol, he has established a great artist career, he has toured internationally and had success alone and in collaboration with artists such as Gente de Zona from Cuba, Lebanese-Canadian Massari and French-Algerian Faudel. Assaf has also been appointed UN Goodwill Ambassador and Ambassador for Palestinian Arts and Culture.
