See the Mela Festival's opening concert this Easter

Dear everyone,

We hope everyone is well.

This spring, the coronavirus has left its mark on all of us. It is unusually quiet in the hallways Melahuset and Melafestivalen , and we are really looking forward to we can finally open the doors again to the public and invite to a festival at Rådhusplassen.

We constantly follow the health authorities and the government's advice and recommendations, and yesterday the restrictions banning large cultural events were extended to 15 June. We hope to know more soon Melafestivalen 2020 and when we can open the doors again Melahuset .

As a little Easter greeting from us, we have now made the Mela Festival's opening concert from 2019 available and we hope it can contribute to a good music experience. You can see the concert here.

For the opening concert, jazz and electronics artist Bendik Baksaas had composed the work Strengene, which bound together forms of music from Pakistan, Uganda and Norway. The work was performed with an ensemble he had put together in collaboration with Melafestivalen , consisting of Asad Qizilbash on sarod, Helga Myhr on hard fiddle and lullaby, Kaggwa Noel on flute, African fiddle and adungu; the slut Fredrik Høyer, poet Masood Munawer and Bendik Baksaas himself.

Take care of each other. Happy Easter.

Greet us Melahuset and Melafestivalen
