On Wednesday 21 July, the second edition of this year's Samora Forum will be launched. This issue of Samora Forum magazine is full of important questions, wise thoughts and many exciting reviews.

In the issue, you can read the review of author Olav Øström's new book Hateful Expressions - Law and justice in the time of the violation, where the reviewer deals with how Østrem informs about section 185 of the Penal Code and when a hate speech is actually punishable.

In connection with the launch, there will also be a conversation with Olav Østrem and Lisa Esohel Knudsen on the topic. The conversation is led by Nora Warholm Essahli. Tickets for the call can be picked up here .

Freedom of expression, the limits of freedom of expression and not least the Freedom of Expression Commission and the role of the Commission, are topics that have dominated the country's debate forum in recent times. This edition of the Samora Forum also addresses the issues surrounding the topic, with several articles looking at the connection between freedom of expression and art and culture.

Historian and author Dag Herbjørnsrud deals with how crises in Europe reveal Norwegians' tendency to create unjust scapegoats. Herbjørnsrud points to Norwegian cultural chauvinism where it is typically Norwegian to be better than others, and how Norway's immigrant population has been blamed for the persistent infection during the pandemic in the country.

The controversial Munch exhibition Give me a name at the Munch Museum in Oslo is also in the edition. The exhibition, which is somewhat centered around the painting Negro with a Green Scarf , has engaged both the public, art critics and the museum to think about ideas about ethnicity and race, and the museum's own role in light of issues of racism, identity and diversity. Who was the man who was portrayed by Munch in 1916 and why did Munch choose to portray him?

As usual, this edition is also packed with several book reviews, series reviews and not least the program for this year's Mela Festival .

Come to the launch and bring home a free copy!

Good reading!
