2020 was in many ways an unusual, different and challenging year - not just for Melahuset and Melafestivalen , but for the whole world. The corona pandemic led to social shutdowns and a lot of insecurity.
On Melahuset we had to close the doors to the public on March 12, and in April it became clear that we could not arrange either Melafestivalen at Rådhusplassen as planned. When we were able to open the doors again, it was with a good distance, fewer spectators in the hall and with an attitude that the infection control rules could change from one day to another.
Fortunately, we have had good supporters who have meant that we have nevertheless been able to fulfill Mela's main goal: to provide space for and convey the artistic expressions that have come to Norway as a result of global migration.
