Israel & Palestine: From revenge to reconciliation, friends against all odds

Tuesday, February 27

Melahuset
5:30 P.M.

Rami Elhanan is an Israeli Jew from Jerusalem and was a combatant soldier during the Yom Kippur War in 1973. Bassam Aramin grew up in Hebron. He was a Palestinian freedom fighter and has served 7 years in an Israeli prison.

Rami's 13-year-old daughter, Smadar, was killed by Hamas in a suicide bombing in 1997. That same year, Bassam's 10-year-old daughter, Abir, was shot and killed by an Israeli soldier. But instead of succumbing to bitterness and hatred, they have joined forces to work for peace. How did they manage to overcome hatred?

In a time of terror and war, Rami and Bassam travel the world hoping to awaken the world; there is an alternative path, peace is indeed possible. When Rami and Bassam, who have paid the highest price in this bitter conflict, can become close friends, then all Israelis and Palestinians can be reconciled and united - if there is a will.

Doors open at 17:30. Free admission
