On stage:
Sera Kalo is a non-binary Caribbean-American artist based in Berlin who has created a unique musical universe based on jazz, neo-soul, hip-hop and Latin-Caribbean styles. Her music exudes both a unique calm and an energetic rawness, and serves as a reflection of who Sera Kalo is and the different nuances that make up her identity. In June 2023, she released her debut album eXante, which is also the name of her band. Sera Kalo has opened for artists such as Shabaka Hutchings, Nala Sinephro, Omar Lye-Fook & Incognito, and has toured the United States, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland and Germany. The concert at Melahuset will be her first concert in both Norway and Scandinavia.
In recent years, Sanyu has played at festivals such as Øya, VillVillVest and at jazz festivals in both Oslo and Copenhagen. Live, she uses her background in old school r&b and improvisation to create a soulful expression with warm harmonies, but also plays with rap and groove-based riffs. Her debut EP Now You Hear it is described as a 14-minute journey through realizations and navel-gazing discomfort, and not least a "testament to true artistry and dedication to the craft". With her on stage this evening she brings some of the most promising musicians on the jazz and electronic music scene: Rino Sivathas on drums, multi-instrumentalist Kristina Fransson and Joachim Mørch Meyer on double bass.
DYNA V is an exciting new voice on the Scandinavian music scene. Born and raised in Norway and with roots in Vietnam, she brings both cultures into her music and has created a unique soundscape that fuses Norwegian nature and Vietnamese heritage. DYNA V debuted with the single "Waterfall" in collaboration with Universal Music Vietnam, and has spent the past year traveling to Vietnam to produce her debut EP in collaboration with record label SHUBE Music.
