Welcome to Palkveld x Palestinepodden!
The Palestine Committee in Oslo invites you to a conversation with political activists Jeff Halper and Issa Amro.
Jeff Halper
Jeff Halper is an Israeli-American anthropologist, author, and political activist born in 1946 in Boston. He has lived in Israel since 1973 and is known for his involvement in Israeli-Palestinian issues. Halper is the head of the Israeli Committee Against Home Demolitions (ICAHD), an organization he co-founded in 1997 to oppose Israel's policy of demolishing Palestinian homes in the occupied territories. ICAHD has rebuilt 189 Palestinian homes as a form of political resistance.
In 2006, Halper was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize along with Palestinian activist Ghassan Andoni for their work promoting equality and recognition of the humanity of both peoples.
Halper is an outspoken supporter of the BDS (boycott, divestment and sanctions) movement and has criticized Israel's policies, which he describes as apartheid and a deliberate campaign to "Judaize" the occupied Palestinian territories.
