Based on self-written melodies and compositions, Teental performs music that is at the interface between classical North Indian music, Swedish folk music and jazz. The result is both meditative, improvised and, not least, functions as a door opener to a new musical world of rhythms and melodies.
The group Teental has toured both India and Sweden for the past ten years and played at clubs and festivals such as the Stockholm Jazz Festival and the Nefertiti jazz club in Gothenburg.
On stage:
Suranjana Ghosh – tabla
Jonas Knutsson – saxophone
Max Åhman – guitar
Jonas Landahl – percussion
Daniel Lantz – keyboards

Suranjana Ghosh was educated in Kolkata, India and is one of the few professional female tabla players. As a child, she learned to play the tabla from her father and later trained in North Indian classical music in Kolkata where she met her second guru, Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri. She has made a name for herself with her unique tabla playing and for the way she infuses Indian rhythms into genres such as flamenco, jazz, blues, opera and other classical works.
Jonas Knutsson is one of Sweden's most versatile saxophonists, and internationally recognized for how he merges the language of jazz with various folk music traditions, and has even arranged some of Johan Sebastian Bach's pieces for saxophone.
Max Åhman is a jazz and rock guitarist. He has a long musical career behind him, having played in the USA, Canada, India and China, and been a member of bands such as Mynta, Egba and Kaipa.
Jonas Landahl is a versatile percussionist with a background in jazz music. He has collaborated with several Indian artists, including the Indian Drum Orchestra. Landahl has played with Ghosh on all of her album releases, and has even written the first Swedish textbook on the tabla instrument.
Daniel Lantz is a pianist, composer, arranger and producer. He studied classical and folk music, but has made a name for himself in the genres of jazz and fusion. Lantz is a member of the group Beat Funktion where he plays keyboards, composes and is a bandleader.
