True to InNor’s motto — bridging communities, generations, institutions and nations — her work places people-to-people connection at its core, fostering mutual understanding across cultural and institutional boundaries.

Ms Deepika Rai is the founder of InNor Consultancy and the initiator of “Lokalvalg på engelsk” (2019), which has since evolved into Stortingsvalg på engelsk (SPE) — an initiative designed to make Norway’s democratic processes more accessible to international citizens and skilled workers with voting rights.

She holds a degree in Comparative Literature and Nordic Languages from the Universities of Bergen and Stavanger, and has recently returned to student life, affiliated with the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Centre for Technology, Innovation and Culture at the University of Oslo.

Through this work, she aims to create spaces for dialogue that welcome newcomers into Norway’s democratic landscape, encouraging broader participation and a shared sense of ownership in democratic processes.

Session II: Navigating the Political Terrain of Norway will be led by Ms. Ashti Simran Rai, an emerging voice in the field of media and cultural diversity. Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Media, Diversity and Culture at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Oslo, Ashti also holds an affiliation with Kulturskolen, campus Nepal (2023).With a background that spans Norwegian youth politics, student leadership, and civic engagement, she brings a fresh perspective to democratic dialogue. As founder and editor of the monthly student paper “Skrik” at Munch videregående skole, she has actively contributed to fostering debate and critical reflection among peers.

At Melahuset, from 16:30, Ashti will guide participants through an interactive dialogue, debate, and workshop, drawing on her passion for inclusion, cultural expression, and democratic participation.
