Thank you for the old and happy new year!
2025 was an eventful year for Mela and we would like to thank the audience, artists, guests and volunteers who have helped create unforgettable experiences and meeting places.
On Melahuset we can look back on a year filled with concerts, talks, dance performances, author visits and children's events. In the fall, we also started the project "Young entrepreneurs on Melahuset » where a group of young adults have been given the opportunity to plan and carry out a cultural event on their own terms. The first event was a club evening at Melahuset in December and we look forward to the continuation.
In August, Oslo Mela once again gathered tens of thousands of spectators for a three-day folk festival at Rådhusplassen. In 2026 we will celebrate our 25th anniversary and we hope you will all join us for the anniversary celebrations on August 14-16. We will release the first artists around Easter, so stay tuned.
On Melahuset We will open our doors again on January 24th with Dabke evening , which we are organizing in collaboration with the folk dance festival Dans Dans Dans . There will also be events on Mother Tongue Day on February 21st and International Women's Day on March 8th.
We would also like to extend a big thank you to our partners and supporters. Thanks to Sparebankstiftlesen DNB for supporting the project "Young entrepreneurs on Melahuset », to Kulturrom for support for equipment, to KORO for support for the development of an art project, to the Municipality of Oslo, the Arts Council, the Ministry of Culture and Equality, and to MDG, SV, Red, the Center Party and the Labor Party for increased funding for Melahuset .
