– One night, a thousand sounds – a journey without borders
1001 Sound is a monthly club concept curated by Daeva, in collaboration with Dattera til Hagen, inviting Oslo's most interesting DJs and musicians to create a global soundtrack that takes the audience on a dancing journey around the world. This will be their first collaboration with MelaKlubb and you can look forward to a live set with Daeva and Navaye Flokkr, a concert with Alright Mela and experimental sounds and styles from DJ Refel.
Alright Mela means “all is well” in Maltese, a phrase that also sums up their Arab-European music quite well, reminding us that a better world is possible. With its blend of captivating electro beats, hallucinating old school synth, oud and sintir instruments, and lyrics that address themes such as migration, war, and discrimination, Alright Mela creates an immediate urge to dance with your fists raised.
Daeva is an Oslo-based DJ and visual artist, born and raised in Tehran. She believes that rhythms travel like people and carry stories – with roots that meet and create new expressions. As a DJ, she searches for the bridges they build, where distant sounds meet and dance together. She is also the founder of 1001 Sound at Dattera til Hagen.
Navaye flokkr is a Persian-Norwegian folk duo consisting of Kiana and Ole. Together they use various drums, string instruments and vocal techniques to fuse folk tunes from around the world.
DJ Refel is a local Oslo DJ with roots from Iraq. Since 2019, she has been cultivating her burning passion for playing experimental sounds and music styles from south of the equator at some of the biggest clubs in Oslo. Expect a fierce mix of genres such as Middle Eastern Deep-House, hip hop from Palestine, Acid-Techno from France, Egyptian Street Music, Brazilian Funk, Afro-house from SA, Syrian Dabke fusion and house music from Lebanon.
