– Newly written ragas that touch the heartstrings
Sudeshna Bhattacharya offers meditative, beautiful and improvised ragas from the Hindustani tradition.
Sudeshna Bhattacharya grew up in a family with deep roots in Indian classical music and at the age of 4 her father, Sri Krishna Mohan Bhattacharya, began teaching her the stringed instrument sarod, and when she was eight years old she began her apprenticeship with sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan. She has lived in France and Norway, where she has both taught music and maintained her international career as an artist, composer and instrumentalist. In March of this year, Sudeshna Bhattacharya released the critically acclaimed album Mohini with Mosin Khan Kawa and now the audience is invited to experience the music from this spiritual album live. At this concert she plays with Nishad Ali Kawa, the grandson of the legendary singer Abdul Gafoor Kawa. He is known for his outstanding technique and improvisational ability within the Delhi Gharana tradition.
