– Indian classical music with global influences
Welcome to a concert with one of India's foremost violinists and composers, known for experimenting and redefining Indian classical music.
Sharat Chandra Srivastava is something of a rarity as a classical musician and rock artist. He was a member of one of India's leading rock'n'roll bands, Parikrama, from 1992 to 2003, where he impressed with his expressive interpretation of rock and classical Hindustani music. He began playing the violin when he was seven years old and was apprenticed to his grandfather and guru, Shri Joi Srivastava, who has given him a special understanding of Dhrupad-Ang", which is also considered the oldest classical music. Since then, he has been interested in expanding his understanding and knowledge of other genres, but also exploring the possibilities within the classical tradition. At this concert, he will be accompanied by tabla player Andreas Bratlie.
