– A spiritual and musical tribute
Bhaskar Das and Amit Mishra invite you to a concert that brings centuries of musical traditions and heritage to life.
Born into a family of musicians, young bansuri maestro Bhaskar Das has made a name for himself with music at the intersection of classical traditions and contemporary expressions. Tabla player Amit Mishra comes from a renowned musical family in Varanasi and specializes in the Banaras Gharana tradition. Their Ancient Sounds of Banaras is a musical tribute to the rich and diverse traditions found in Varanasi, a spiritual capital of India and one of the oldest cities in the world. Through a repertoire consisting of mantra chanting, majestic dhrupad and dhamar, intricate classical ragas, dynamic tabla rhythms, expressive thumri and lively folk melodies, the audience is invited to a deep and emotional encounter with the narrative of this historic city.
