- A masterful meeting of different traditions
Eight different musicians form the starting point for a unique concert that both celebrates and unites different classical musical expressions from the Asian continent.
Bian Liunian is one of China's most active contemporary composers and music producers, captivating audiences at home and abroad with his performances on the two-string violin erhu. Singer and musician Gulixiat, or "Guli", plays the satar string instrument and is one of the Uyghurs' foremost musical ambassadors in China. Husile is one of the most acclaimed performers of the Mongolian horsehead violin morin khuur, which is also considered Mongolia's national instrument. The string instrument sarangi has deep roots in South Asian traditional music and this concert features both Indian Kamal Sabri and Nepali Prince Nepali, who both come from families with several generations of sarangi players. Raman Mahranji is not only an exceptional bansuri player, but is also committed to passing on both traditional and contemporary Nepali music to younger generations. Sanskriti Shrestha is one of Norway's leading tabla players and often improvises at the intersection of jazz and roots music from many regions and traditions. Knut Reiersrud is one of Norway's foremost blues guitarists and has collaborated several times with Nepalese musicians.
