– Decorations and ornaments galore

Every day, hundreds of thousands of magnificent works of art roll along Pakistan's roads. The decorated trucks have become an important part of Pakistani folk art, and on the City Hall Square you will find the Mela Festival's own truck. The truck is adorned with shiny metal pieces, shiny rosettes, flashing lights, calligraphy and ceramic tiles, and is the festival's pride and joy. This truck was brought to Norway in 2002 to be exhibited at the Oslo Mela. It was then purchased by the Norwegian Museum of Cultural History with support from the Norwegian Council for Arts, and since then it has been one of the festival's landmarks and is exhibited every year at the festival.
