– A musical exploration of personal and musical roots
It gets personal and experimental when award-winning violinist and composer Harpreet Bansal opens Oslo Mela's main stage in August with his band and Indian violinist Sharat Chandra Srivastava.
In recent years, she has distinguished herself as one of the most distinctive and exciting Norwegian musicians. Her deeply personal version of the Indian raga is a unique blend of her musical heritage and the impressions and experiences that come from living life between two cultures, experiences that also came in handy in her musical collaboration with the rap duo Karpe. Harpreet Bansal just released the critically acclaimed album "States of Mind" in which she crosses musical genre boundaries, expands our understanding of what can be defined as roots and thus creates a unique musical expression that is both deeply personal and sensual.
At Rådhusplassen she plays with a band consisting of Andreas Brattlie on the tabla, Vojtech Prochazka on the harmonium, Reshail Mansoor on vocals, Adrian Fiskum Myhr on bass and the Indian violinist Sharat Chandra Srivastava.
