Palkveld: Behind the scenes of Norwegian peace diplomacy – conversation with Hilde Henriksen Waage
Thursday, August 27
- Melahuset
- 6:00 P.M.
The Palestine Committee in Oslo welcomes you to this fall's first Palkveld and live recording of the Palestinapodden with guest Hilde Henriksen Waage.
Doors open at 6 pm
Free admission.
Hilde Henriksen Waage is a professor of history at the University of Oslo and one of Norway's leading experts on the Oslo process and Norwegian peace diplomacy. She has spent decades researching secrecy, power plays, and Norway's role in the Israel–Palestine conflict. Waage is known for her thorough work with hidden documents, critical analyses, and clear public voice.
Now she comes to talk about what she knows, what she has uncovered, and what still remains unanswered.
The conversation is led by Rania Iraki and Nader Khalayli, and is recorded as a live episode of the Palestine Podcast.
The evening will include, among other things:
– Whistleblowing and the hunt for documents that were never supposed to be seen
– Rød-Larsen and Juul, the Oslo Agreement – and how the aftermath will shape Norwegian politics
– What actually happened to the disputed documents
– Bad culture and abuse of power in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: scope, consequences and responsibility
– Board of Peace and considerations on the way forward for Palestinians
This is a rare opportunity to hear Waage speak. For anyone interested in Palestine, Norwegian foreign policy, power, secrecy and storytelling – this will be an evening you don't want to miss.
