The Joint Committee for Palestine welcomes you to the Palestine Conference 2025, on October 4th from 11 am to 5 pm. The conference is open to all, and will be held at Melahuset in Oslo. This year's theme is freedom of expression, actionism and journalism.

Over 247 Palestinian journalists have been killed since October 7, 2023. They have been essential in getting information about the genocide in Gaza out to the world. Norwegian media has drawn criticism from both journalists and activists for not giving this enough attention.

In Palestine and Israel, Palestinian and Israeli activists are persecuted and punished for their statements against the genocide and occupation. In several European countries, pro-Palestinian demonstrations have been met with bans and arrests. Palestinian cultural workers, artists and academics have experienced smear campaigns and dismissals in Europe. Pro-Palestinian posts are tracked and censored on social media.

Here in Norway, the discussion around freedom of expression and the duty of expression has been lively, and focus has been placed on both actionism and the role of journalism in today's space for expression.
