Oslo Culture Night: Sidiki Camara – A Life in Music

Friday, September 12

Melahuset
8:00 P.M.

Musical traditions, interaction and improvisation form the basis for this concert with perhaps one of the most important artists Oslo has to offer. Sidiki Camara is one of Mali's great musicians, and one of the best percussionists in the world, and is considered one of the creators of the modern wave of West African Manding music. Since 2010, he has made his mark on the music scene in Oslo and here he has been a sought-after musician who has played with artists such as Bugge Wesseltoft, Karpe, the octet Mirror Image and in the cult band Sex Judas. In 2024, he also won a Spellemannpris for the album "Return to the Traditions", where he mixed music from Mali with Norwegian folk music.

At Oslo Kulturnatt he brings along his fellow musicians in the Sidiki Camara Group, Bendik Hofseth, Jacob Young and Audun Erlien, in addition to Sarah Camille, Eirik Askerøi and dancer Shirley Mado.

We open the doors at 7 pm. Concert starts at 8 pm. Free admission!
