Ole MAA: A Psychotic Handbook (offer for secondary schools)

Monday 10 October

Melahuset
12:30 p.m

In the concert performance "A Psykotisk Håndbok" , Ole MAA takes the audience on a musical, humorous and educational roller coaster. They get an insight into what it is like to be psychotic, depressed and manic, both from the perspective of Ole's head and from those who saw him from the outside.

Ole MAA has a long and rich career behind him as both a performing musician, singer and producer. On the one hand, he has collaborated with artists in the hip-hop environment such as Karpe, Madcon, Kamelen and Jaa9 & OnklP, and on the since then he has played hundreds of performances with musicals comedians such as Bye & Rønning, Marit Voldsæter, Kristian Valen, Åsleik Engmark, Hilde Louise Asbjørnsen and Espen Beranek Holm. In 2011, he had to put his career on hold because he was forcibly admitted to a psychiatric hospital several times. As a result, he was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder.

In "A Psykotisk Håndbok", Ole tells his story from his youth when he was involved in everything from school revues, big bands and boy bands and further how it laid the foundation for his music career which started in 2005. He eventually had to learn to navigate in a celebrity world where alcohol, partying and self-medication are commonplace for many, something that Ole experienced both for better and for worse with his own psyche. During "A Psychotic Handbook", the public receives tips and advice that can contribute to increasing knowledge about mental health and how to notice characteristics. The audience will also have access to an actual handbook where they will be able to find song lyrics, tips and advice.

After the concert, Ole will be open to answer questions and have a conversation with the audience about his journey to create this production.

Ole MAA won "Best actor" for his performance of his interpretation of "A Psykotisk Håndbok" during the Oslo Fringe festival 2021!
