Eco Week 2026: The Palestinian Farmer – Farming Under Occupation
Tuesday, September 15
- Melahuset
- 6:00 P.M.
During Økouka 2026, the Palestine Committee in Oslo invites you to a conversation about the Palestinian farmer, where we will hear about what it is like to farm under Israeli occupation and how Israel actively destroys access to water, soil and seeds for Palestinian farmers.
Time: September 15, 6:00 PM
Place: Melahuset
The event is free and open to everyone. Welcome!
The Palestinian liberation struggle and Israeli occupation are not primarily a metaphor for right and wrong and a political issue. It is reality, it is material – and it manifests itself on the ground and in the soil that is cultivated. The Israeli occupation of Palestine is about land and power. Where land, soil, seeds, water, food culture, the farmer and agriculture are central elements, both for Israel as an occupying power and for the Palestinian resistance struggle.
We want to shine a spotlight on why international solidarity is important to have on the agenda. Self-sufficiency and the work against topsoil degradation is a global common struggle that is relevant both in Norway and in Palestine.
ØKOUKA is a celebration of Norwegian organic food that conveys both raw materials, knowledge and inspiration. The week will showcase the diversity of agricultural and food production in Norway and connect it to people's everyday lives and will be held in 2026 in 15 cities/regions. ØKOUKA Oslo 2026 consists of events throughout the city in the period September 11 - September 20. Check www.okouka.no for more information.
