Curated by Daeva, in collaboration with Oslo Mela, 1001 Sound invites musicians and DJs to create a global soundtrack. A journey from Beirut to Dakar, Alexandria to Mogadishu, from Bogotá through Sápmi and Delhi, to the shores of the Persian Gulf, with stops in Kurdistan and Omdurman. All to the rhythm of dance.

Bahar Atish is an Iranian rapper, actress and women's rights activist. She began rapping in her teens and quickly became a central figure in Tehran's underground scene. Both her lyrics and music embrace the personal and the political, and she has been arrested twice for her music, the first time at the age of 15. Her 2002 song Az Jens-e Paeez became a central figure during the "Women, Life, Freedom" demonstrations, and she was subsequently forced to leave Iran. This will be her first concert in Norway.

Disco Tehran is more than a party – it’s a global celebration of dance, community and music. Starting in a small apartment in Chinatown, New York, Disco Tehran has grown to create a warm, vibrant and inclusive dance floor that is spreading across the globe. Through music and live performance, they recreate the vibrant music scene of 1970s Tehran and connect it with today’s global dance floors and rare gems from Asia, Latin America, Africa and Europe.

Simona Abdallah is the first professional female darbuka player, an instrument traditionally played only by men, and in her music she mixes Arabic rhythms with house, electronica and other global rhythms.

Nasim Mashak, known as DJ Daeva , is an Oslo-based artist, curator and DJ with roots in Tehran. For over two decades, she has curated events and played at clubs and festivals in Norway and beyond, following the journeys of sound between cultures, continents and dance floors. She is the curator of 1001 Sound, where musicians and DJs from different genres, cultures and generations meet.

Kiana is an Iranian folk singer and a voice that crosses borders. With songs in several languages, she tells stories of alienation and belonging. She has performed on various stages in the capital.
