Carnatic traditions meet playful improvisation and intricate rhythms as bansuri player Shantala Subramanyam returns to Melahuset with his new musical project: KARNATIK TRIO 2:1.

In KARNATIK TRIO 2:1, Shantala Subramanyam explores the interplay between melodic improvisation and complex rhythms together with the two percussionists Bhagyalakshmi Muralikrishna and Anirudha Bhat.

As one of the leading female flutists, Shantala Subramanyam has toured extensively around the world. Anirudha Bhat's experience in Indian percussion makes him a dynamic performer in any musical context, and Bhagyalakshmi Muralikrishna is not only one of the few female percussionists in India, but also an essential contributor to the endangered tradition of morsing (mouth harp).

We can only look forward to a concert where Shantala's flute meets the percussion instruments of Anirudha and Bhagyalakshmi in a playful interplay between melody and rhythm.
