Dabke evening

The traditional dance dabke symbolizes community, joy and cultural resistance. This evening we invite you to an energetic and fun workshop with Yasmin Mouafak, there will be a concert with Nawar Alndaffad, Safaa Alsaadi and Ahmad Alak. DJ Refel will provide a good atmosphere throughout the evening.

Do you want to hear the story of the Palestinian Dabke, Zareef altool and ween a Ramallah?

Then join the dance with Yasmin Mouafak and listen to the music of Nawar Alnaddaf and Safaa Alsaadi.

Workshop in the forest

Join us for an energetic and fun workshop in traditional folk dance from the Levant!

You will learn the basic steps, rhythm and how to dance in a circle – shoulder to shoulder with others.

You don't need any prior knowledge, just comfortable shoes and a good mood.

Come and experience the music, the steps and the community!

About the artists:

Nawar Alndaffad is a singer and Oud player from Syria, who has lived in Norway since November 2015. This journey is reflected in her music, where her Arabic roots extend to new areas. Emotional and soulful, her music consists of several musical styles and traditions in its own unique blend.

Safaa Al-Saadi is an Iraqi composer, arranger and multi-instrumentalist. He lives and works in Oslo, and creates music that is deeply rooted in traditions from Mesopotamia. Safaa has given a number of concerts in Norway and Europe, both as a soloist and in various ensembles. He has worked as a music workshop leader in a number of countries and has taught, among other things, schools and colleges.

Ahmad Alak is an oud player and singer from Syria.

DJ Refel is a local Oslo DJ with roots from Iraq. Since 2019, she has been cultivating her burning passion for playing experimental sounds and music styles from south of the equator at some of the biggest clubs in Oslo. Expect a fierce mix of genres such as Middle Eastern Deep-House, hip hop from Palestine, Acid-Techno from France, Egyptian Street Music, Brazilian Funk, Afro-house from SA, Syrian Dabke fusion and house music from Lebanon.
