All Hail the Queen: Soom T + Shana Mathai

Saturday, February 28

Melahuset
21:30

There will be genre-experimental reggae and soulful tones when we invite you to a concert with Soom T, also known as the Raggamuffin Queen , and Shana Mathai at the first All Hail the Queen of the year.

With honest and poetic lyrics, fierce flows and music that moves in the borderland between reggae, soul, hip hop and spiritual music, Scottish-Indian Soom T has established herself as one of the most central artists on the alternative reggae scene.

In her more than 20 years as an active artist, Soom T has played on some of the biggest European music stages and festivals, and she has collaborated with artists such as Asian Dub Foundation, Queen Omega, Tigerstyle, Naâman and Krak In Dub, with whom she released the EP “Free the Hard Way EP1”. Known as a hard-working artist, she is always in the studio between tours and gigs, and has released several albums – from the career-defining “Free as a Bird” to last year’s “Vision”, where she collaborated with Manudigital.

Shana Mathai convinces with everything from neo-soul, indie soul and all sorts of other groovy snacks. In 2024 she released the singles "Bond", "After the Rain" and "Shake Your Feathers", and it probably won't be long until more new music is coming. In the meantime, you can enjoy Shana Mathai's warm and soulful music when she plays at Melahuset together with her talented band: Thomas Clausen Nerstad on bass, Pål Andersson on keys and trumpet, Bendik Lidvang on drums, and Eivind Knapper on guitar.

All Hail The Queen is a monthly concept on Melahuset where we present female hip hop and r&b artists.

It happens at Melahuset
