The dance group Akwaaba is celebrating its 20th anniversary and is inviting big stars to a party at Melahuset October 16! Here, the West African music and dance community in Oslo will be honored and celebrated; a central force in the city's cultural life for over 40 years. The evening offers performances by a number of key artists who have left their mark on this history, followed by an open dance floor and stage for all.

In 2005, the dance group Akwaaba was formed by amateur dancers with extensive experience in West African dance. Since then, the group has collaborated with a wide range of professional dancers and musicians based in Norway, Europe and West Africa. Akwaaba has thus been part of a unique environment that has provided an enriching, performing community between professionals and amateurs.
